Feelin' Good
In todays hectic world it is useful to know a few relaxation techniques to allow your body time to recover from the continual stress that makes up our lives in the 21st century.
Different relaxation techniques work to a greater or lesser degree for different people. You may find that you can relax best when having a massage, a facial, refloxology or reiki; you may choose to work out at the gym; you may like to just sit quietly in the morning listening to the bird song; or you may enjoy making something personal for your friends and family.
Do hobbies help?
If your hobbies are far removed from your daily, stressful life then they will give you the time you need to regather and regroup. Everyone's hobbies vary - and other's hobbies may seem strange to us - but they do do the job!
I make cards for family and friends, crochet for premature babies and make window clings. My husband does stained glass work and we both do family tree research.
Whatever your hobbies are they will guide you along the path of feelin' good.
Some relaxation techniques
There are an enormous number of therapists who will work with you to help you relax or you can choose to carry out a few simple techniques for yourself.
Experiment and find what works best for you.
-
sit and look into the flame of a single candle.
-
visualise somewhere that you've been on holiday. Concentrate on sights, sounds, smell.
-
think of a single word and then think of every word associated with it.
-
listen to the sound of your breathing, then listen to the sounds just outside the room, then just outside the building .... gradually image sounds further and further away.
Start with just 5 minutes and gradually increase the time you spend relaxing - it is said that 30 minutes meditating is as good as a good nights sleep.

Reiki Principles
Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not be angry.
Just for today I will do my work honestly.
Just for today I will be kind to my neighbours and to every living thing.
